New passenger shelter secured for Mayo train Junction
Senator Mark Duffy has welcomed confirmation from Irish Rail that a new passenger shelter will be installed at Manulla Junction before winter.
The announcement follows sustained representations by the senator on behalf of local commuters, who have long been exposed to the elements while waiting at the west Mayo junction.
The commitment was given at the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport.
"I am delighted to confirm that, following consistent representations, Irish Rail have today committed to creating a passenger shelter at Manulla Junction before winter," Senator Duffy said.
"I want to thank everyone who contacted me about this issue and pay particular tribute to Mary Considine of Irish Rail for her efforts and commitment.
"As rail passenger numbers continue to grow, improvements like this make rail travel more attractive and comfortable for commuters across Mayo."
