Warm Mayo tributes to Ballyheane's Joseph Joyce on his passing
The death of Joseph Joyce, Magherafadda, Ballyheane, Castlebar, is deeply mourned in the community.
In his 89th year, he died peacefully at Hollymount Nursing Home.
He will be sadly missed by his heartbroken son Christy (Castlebar) and daughter Valeria (Ballyheane), daughter-in-law Mary, cherished grandchildren Deirdre, Leah, Catherine and Jessica, niece Connie and Connie’s husband Kevin and their children Martin and Jayden, sister-in-law Eileen and her husband Ray (U.K), sister-in-law Freda (U.K), his nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives and many friends.
Sympathy is extended to the bereaved family on their loss.
Joseph was predeceased by his beloved wife Alice Joyce, his daughter Valerie’s partner Kevin Heuze and his parents Christy and Molly Joyce.
Fond tributes are being paid to the deceased on social media.
"Always enjoyed Joe’s company .. scholar and a great storyteller," one stated.
Another said: "Joe was a lovely man to work with and had a great sense of humour."
"He was a true gentleman never got too excited about anything," a further tribute observed.
Joseph will repose at Ballyheane Community Centre on Friday from 6.30 to 8 p.m. followed by removal to St. Patrick’s Church , Ballyheane, arriving at 8.15 p.m.
Funeral Mass takes place in St. Patrick’s Church, Ballyheane, on Saturday at 11 a.m.
Afterwards Joseph will be laid to rest in Ballyheane Cemetery.
