Community in west Mayo to hold meeting in appeal for daily bus service

A RURAL community in west Mayo is demanding a public transport service.

Killeen has no public transport and the community has appealed to the National Transport Authority (NTA) to provide a daily bus service.

To support the appeal, a public meeting has been organised for this Friday, June 12, at 7.30 p.m. in Killeen Community Centre.

Local Councillor Chris Maxwell has been raising the issue at local authority and national level, and efforts to date have also included a community petition.

He has been stressing the need for connectivity in this rural part of west Mayo, both for the community socially and also for tourism and the islands.
