Creative competition to celebrate 50 years of Mayo's basilica

KNOCK Basilica is celebrating its 50th anniversary.

To mark the occasion, Knock Shrine is inviting young people to get creative and take part in a special art competition.

Young people aged 11 to 17 years living in the Tuam or Killala Dioceses can enter as individuals or groups (groups may include up to three people).

The challenge is to create a 2D or 3D piece of art inspired by the Basilica.

Artwork can be:

* The outside of the Basilica

* The inside of the Basilica

* A detail or feature of the Basilica

* Or a re-imagined / re-designed Basilica

The invitation from the shrine is to get creative with Lego, clay, paint, sketching, cake, animation, papier-mâché - the sky’s the limit.

All entries must be delivered to Knock Youth Ministry and must be received by June 30.

All entries will be displayed at a special exhibition on July 18, during the Basilica's 50 celebration.

Prizes and age categories are: 11-13 years, €200 Smyths or Elverys voucher; 14-17 years, €200 Elverys or Harvey Norman voucher.
