Mayo Gardaí appeal for witnesses after serious crash on N59

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a serious injury road traffic collision on the N59 at Clooneen, Westport, on Wednesday evening.

The crash, involving two cars, occurred at approximately 7.20 p.m. and prompted a response from gardaí and emergency services.

The driver of one of the vehicles, a man in his 30s, was airlifted to University Hospital Galway with non-life-threatening injuries.

Two child passengers - a boy and a girl - were taken to Children's Hospital Ireland at Temple Street, Dublin, with serious injuries.

The driver of the second car, also a man in his 30s and the sole occupant of that vehicle, was taken by ambulance to Mayo University Hospital with serious injuries.

Gardaí are asking anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward. Road users who were travelling in the area between 7 p.m. and 7.30 p.m. and have camera footage, including dash-cam footage, are asked to make it available to investigating gardaí.
