Scheduled opening date for new Mayo primary care centre revealed

Minister for Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht Dara Calleary has issued an update in respect to the ongoing development of the Ballyhaunis Primary Care Centre.

The minister said outlined: “Following recent dialogue with the primary care services team of the HSE in Mayo, I have been updated on the construction and proposed opening of the Ballyhaunis Primary Care Centre.

"Works are ongoing and presently scheduled for handover from the contractor to the HSE at the end of July.

"While there is still works to be finalised, I am assured that the HSE are maintaining as much pressure as possible upon the contractor to ensure that the handover remains on schedule.

“Once handover takes place, the primary care team are committed to a relatively quick turnaround in terms of kit-out with October 1 the scheduled date for opening and for the centre to be operational.

"This is a significant development for Ballyhaunis, one that is long overdue, but I do wish to acknowledge the efforts of the primary care team in getting the project back on track.

"I will continue to work with them to get this centre completed, handed over and opened as quickly as possible for the community of Ballyhaunis and beyond,” he said.
