Minister Dillon welcomes tender approval for east Mayo school extension

Minister of State Alan Dillon TD has welcomed confirmation that Carracastle Central National School, Cashelduff, Ballaghaderreen, has received approval to proceed to tender for the construction of a new Special Education Tuition (SET) room.

Minister Dillon said: “I am pleased that plans for the school, which is located between Charlestown and Ballaghaderreen, have been approved by the Department of Education under the Additional School Accommodation Scheme.”

The rural four‑teacher school has seen growing demand for enhanced learning supports, and this approval marks an important milestone in delivering improved facilities for its pupils.

“This is very positive news for Carracastle Central National School and for the wider community.

The new SET room will ensure that children who need additional support can access it in a modern, purpose‑built environment. I am delighted to see the project progress to tender.”

He paid tribute to Principal Michael Bracken, the Board of Management, teachers, staff and students for their ongoing commitment to the school’s development.

“I want to acknowledge the tremendous work of Principal Bracken and the Board in bringing this project to this stage. I wish them every success as they move into the construction phase.”

Minister Dillon reaffirmed his support for the school and confirmed he will continue to engage with the Department to ensure the project advances without delay.
