Mayo's Brennan crowned national under-12 snooker champion

Balla's James Brennan has been crowned national champion at the 147academy Under-12 Snooker Championship, retaining the title he first won in 2024.

The Mayo cueman beat defending champion Callum Behan from Dublin 3-1 in a high-quality final at the SBI Academy of Excellence in Carlow on Sunday, June 7, during SBI Finals Weekend.

It was a repeat of last year's final, with Behan having won the 2025 title. Brennan also picked up the high break award for the tournament, with a break of 45.

SBI Chairman John Tobin presented Brennan with the perpetual shield after the final.

In the semi-finals, Brennan beat Ronnie McCormack Reck from Dublin 2-0, while Behan defeated Albert Adamczyk from Cork 2-0.

Players from Mayo, Dublin, Cork and Wexford took part in the championship, now in its twelfth year since Corey Ramsbottom from Carlow won the inaugural title in 2014.

The event, sponsored by the 147 Academy of PJ Nolan, has free entry to encourage young players from across the country to take part.

National Coach PJ Nolan said he was delighted to see the standard rising every year, with Brennan's record-equalling break underlining the calibre of Ireland's underage talent coming through.
