A proud occasion for Mayo school as new astroturf is officially opened

The official opening of the new astroturf facility at Parke National School represents a proud occasion for everyone associated with the school.

In performing the ceremony, Minister of State Alan Dillon said: "This project is far more than just a pitch.

"It is a testament to the community spirit, volunteerism and determination that make Parke such a special place.

"From an initial idea to raising over €65,000 through local fundraising and countless volunteer hours, this facility is the result of a community coming together to make something great happen.

"It also couldn’t happen without the support of the local councillors in the Castlebar MD.

"Congratulations to everyone involved in delivering a wonderful amenity that will benefit local children and the wider community for years to come."
