Acclaimed London choir set to visit Mayo next weekend

The vibrant musical landscape of Westport is about to get a major injection of south London energy.

On Saturday, June 27, members of Tongue & Groove, an acclaimed community choir from Southeast London, will bring their infectious brand of classic pop and musical theatre tunes to the heart of Co. Mayo.

Visitors and locals alike can expect spontaneous musical moments throughout the afternoon as the choir "pops up" at various iconic locations around Westport.

The musical trail will culminate in a early-evening performance at McCarthy’s from 5:30 to 7 p.m. that will be part performance, part sing-along with their friends from the Westport Town Hall Choir.

The event is completely free, and the choir is encouraging everyone to come along, watch, and sing along if the fancy takes them.

"We can’t wait to swap the Tube for the Wild Atlantic Way," says Robin Thompson, founder member of Tongue & Groove.

"We are so looking forward to meeting members of Westport’s own Town Hall Choir to share our love of singing and build some wonderful cross-border musical connections."

Whether you are a fan of soaring musical theatre choruses or feel-good pop classics, this unique cultural exchange promises to be a highlight of Westport's summer weekend.
