Mayo tributes to 'truly lovely lady' Kathleen Mannion on her passing

The death of Kathleen (Catherine) Mannion (née Mc Nicholas), Hollyhill, Castlebar, is deeply regretted in the community at large.

She died peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family.

Many fond tributes have been paid to her on social media. "Kathleen was a true gentlewoman, a lady of great faith who loved her family," one stated.

"Kathleen was a truly lovely lady and always so welcoming.

"Having known her for so many years, I will always remember our chats about nursing and life.

"She leaves behind many happy memories," another stated.

Kathleen will be sadly missed by her loving children Marie Therese (Clune, Dublin), Michael (Breaffy), Elaine Kelly (Ennis), Katrina Irwin (Knockaphunta) and Paul (USA), sons-in-law Conor, Mark and Kieran, daughters-in-law Fiona and Brenda, sister Maureen (Castlebar), brother Bill (USA), Vinny (Manchester), Jimmy (Castlebar) and Brendan (Keelogues), sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, grandchildren Zara, Michael, Robert, Jack, Stephen, Catherine, Ellen, Matthew, Alan, Laura, Cathal, Ciara, Caoimhe, Katie, Niall, Conall and Tommie, great-grandchildren Theo, Lily, Emily, Fionn and Conall, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends, and a special ‘thank you’ to her carer Aiza.

Heartfelt sympathy is extended to the bereaved family on their loss.

Kathleen was predeceased by her beloved husband Tommy, parents Mike and Delia, brothers Sean, Richie, Paddy and Kevin, and grandchild Maria (Kelly).

Requiem Mass took place earlier today at St. Patrick’s Church, Ballyheane.

Kathleen was laid rest afterwards in Ballyheane Cemetery.

In a fitting tribute to the deceased, there was a large and representative turnout at the funeral ceremonies.

May her gentle soul rest in peace.
