Senator calls on Irish Rail to lay on special train for Mayo supporters

Senator Mark Duffy has called on Irish Rail to provide a special train direct to Dublin for Mayo supporters travelling to Croke Park for their quarter-final against Cork this weekend.

The senator said the late timing of the draw had left many supporters facing limited and costly accommodation options.

"With the draw being made only six days out from the game, many hotels are either booked out or very expensive," he said.

"Providing a special train will allow supporters to travel conveniently and affordably to support the green and red this weekend."

Senator Duffy, a member of the joint Oireachtas committee for transport, said he hoped Irish Rail would be able to act on the request.

"I hope that Irish Rail can make resources available, as the special trains always add a memorable element to All-Ireland games in Croke Park," he said.
