Mayo County Council Film Bursary Award launched
Film Mayo and the Mayo County Council Film Bursary Award were launched at Westport Town Hall Theatre by Minister Alan Dillon, with a large attendance from the local and national screen industry.
Both Mayo County Council and Film Mayo now invite applications for the Mayo County Council Film Bursary Award, a new once-off award of €15,000 to commission an original film by a Mayo-based filmmaker or filmmaking team.
This award marks the formal launch of Film Mayo and reflects Mayo County Council’s commitment to the county’s screen culture, its filmmaking talent and its profile as a location for national and international production.
Film Mayo promotes filmmaking in Mayo, providing confidential information and advice services to production companies filming in the county, a directory of locations, resources, cast and crew, and arranging filming permissions for productions shooting in Mayo.
With over 50 productions shot in Mayo to date, from classic Hollywood productions to contemporary international streaming titles, the county is an attractive location for filmmakers and Film Mayo seeks to promote Mayo as a filming location and hub for the film industry.
The Mayo County Council Film Bursary Award is open for applications until July 31 at 5 p.m. The application form and guidelines can be found at the link here.
