East Mayo community grieves passing of popular taxi operator
The death of Kevin Murtagh, Chapel Street, Swinford, is widely mourned,
A local taxi operator who was actively involved in the community, he was held in high regard.
A tribute on the Facebook page of Siamsa Sráide Street Festival stated: "Sending our sincere condolences to the family of Kevin Murtagh, one of the kindest men you could meet, always reliable and there to give advice.
"He was strong community worker especially with Swinford Tidy Towns, we at Siamsa Sraide were always thankful for his support year in year out, he will be missed by all who knew him.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with all of Kevin's family at this sad time.
"Rest in peace Kevin."
Kevin will be deeply missed by his sons Vincent (Shauna) and Kevin (Nicola) and their mother Cathy, brothers Leo (Anne) and Vincent (Nancy}, sister Annie-Mae, grandchildren Harry, Grace, Ava, Saibh, Tara and Conor, nieces, nephews, family circle, neighbours and friends, to whom sympathy is tendered.
He was predeceased by his parents Michael and Anne, sisters Monica and Kathleen, brothers Michael, Andrew and JP.
Reposing on Sunday in Campbell's Funeral Home, Swinford, from 3 until 7 p.m.
Kevin's Funeral Mass will take place at 12 noon in Our Lady Help of Christians Church, Swinford, on Monday prior to burial in Kilconduff Cemetery.
