Intriguing meeting between Mayo and Galway in prospect
An intriguing Connacht derby between Mayo and Galway will be played out to determine the last team into the semi-finals of this year's TG4 LGFA Senior Championship.
Whoever wins the encounter, which will be played in Tuam Stadium at 5.45 p.m. on Sunday (July 5), will join Armagh, Kerry and Dublin in the last four.
Galway, the Connacht champions, have been moving very well recently and are one of the favourites for the All-Ireland title.
The Tribeswomen defeated Mayo already this year in championship fare, in the provincial decider, but Diane O'Hora's charges put it up to their great rivals that day, and have further improved since then.
Mayo will have learned a lot from that outing and will make the short trip to Tuam confident of producing an improved showing.
Galway will start as favourites, though, and they’re unchanged following an impressive win against Tyrone last time out.
Mayo are also unchanged after getting the better of Donegal to secure passage to the last eight.
The Mayo team lines out as follows: L. Brennan; L. Wallace, S. El Massry, L. Hanley; M. Delaney, F. Collins, H. Reape; A. Geraghty, T. Needham; M. Reilly, S. Walsh, A. Staunton; L. Cafferky, C. Keane, S. Cafferky.
The Galway team is: L. O'Halloran; B. Quinn, S. Ní Loingsigh, K. Geraghty; H. Noone, N. Ward, E. Power; N. Divilly, S. Divilly; O. Divilly, K. Slevin, K. Thompson; E. Noone, L. Coen, R. Leonard.
