Additional train service for Mayo GAA supporters attending Croke Park clash

You can book online from tomorrow morning, Wednesday, July 8.

Mayo TD and Minister of State Alan Dillon has welcomed confirmation that an additional train service has been sanctioned for Mayo GAA supporters travelling to Dublin for this Saturday’s All-Ireland semi-final against Louth.

The news had been relayed earlier to Mayo Senator Mark Duffy following his direct contact with the company.

Irish Rail had been working to secure extra capacity since the fixture details were confirmed, and has now added further services to support the large numbers expected to travel from Mayo.

Alongside the previously announced special trains - including the 09:15 Westport–Heuston and the 21:10 return service with a Ballina connection - Irish Rail has confirmed two additional match-day services:

11:50 Westport to Heuston (with Ballina connection at 11:35).

21:30 Heuston to Westport.

These services will be available to book online from tomorrow morning, Wednesday, July 8.

Said Senator Duffy: "My thanks to the staff and drivers of Irish rail who have helped make this happen. Wishing all supporters a safe and enjoyable day out in Dublin for the semi final and best of luck to Andy and the team. Up Mayo."

Details are as follows:

11:50 Westport to Heuston (connection from Ballina 11:35)

21:30 Heuston to Westport

Minister Dillon said the extra capacity will make a real difference for supporters.

“This ensures Mayo fans have reliable, convenient options to get to and from Croke Park. I want to acknowledge Irish Rail’s engagement in securing these additional services for the county.”

Irish Rail has also adjusted the 21:09 Athlone to Westport service to 22:10 to facilitate onward travel from Dublin.
