Tribute paid to Mayo councillor on retirement from ESB

TRIBUTE has been paid to Bonniconlon-based Councillor John O'Hara on his retirement from the ESB.

His service to the people of Mayo has been hailed, particularly in the aftermath of storms.

Senator Mark Duffy offered his congratulations to his good friend and former Mayo County Council colleague on his 'well-earned' recent retirement from the ESB.

Said Senator Duffy: “John gave outstanding service to the people of Mayo over many years, particularly during storms and major outages when he and his teams worked tirelessly to restore power and keep our communities safe.

“He also worked closely with my late father, and I know Dad would have been proud to see the dedication John continued throughout his career.”

He added: “Wishing you, Margaret, and all the family a long, happy and healthy retirement ahead. Thank you for everything you do for our county, John.”

For the immediate future John will be busy with preparations for the annual Bonniconlon Show, of which he is chairman and has led to continued growth and success.
