Iconic Mayo hotel and estate is up for sale

THE Mount Falcon hotel and estate has gone on the market.

Owned by the Maloney family for the last 20 years, the sale of the luxury Mayo property has been listed on the CBRE website.

Mount Falcon Hotel is marking its 150th anniversary this year, the country mansion having been built in 1876 by Utred Augustus Knox as a gift for his would-be bride.

CBRE Hotels have been instructed to manage the sale of the estate, which represents an exceptional opportunity to acquire one of Ireland’s most distinguished and storied luxury hospitality properties.

The award-winning 4-star deluxe manor house hotel and estate sits on 95 acres and comprises 32 beautifully appointed bedrooms in the manor house, luxury lodges across three distinct settings - The Woodlands, The Courtyard and The Lakeside, an award-winning restaurant, the Boathole Bar, conference and banqueting facilities, a leisure centre, spa, and 3.2km of exclusive salmon fishing rights on the adjoining River Moy.

Over the years the property has hosted many distinguished guests, including former US President Joe Biden and actress Vivien Leigh of Gone With the Wind. It was also a host venue for the visit earlier this week of European ministers who met in Ballina as part of Ireland's EU Presidency.
