Mayo set for spell of hot weather as temperatures climb to 29 degrees
Mayo is facing into a spell of very warm to hot weather, with temperatures set to climb through the week and highs of up to 29 degrees possible by the weekend.
Thursday itself will be a transitional day.
It will start cloudy, with patches of mist, drizzle and fog in a light southwesterly breeze.
Cloud will linger in Atlantic areas through the day, but warm sunshine will break through widely too, especially further east.
Highest temperatures of 19 to 25 degrees are expected.
Thursday night will stay very mild and humid, with lowest temperatures of 13 to 17 degrees.
Some mist or fog will form in west and northwest areas, otherwise it will stay dry with clear spells, in light northerly or variable breezes.
The heat will then build later into the weekend.
Friday will turn very warm or hot, with highest temperatures of 21 to 29 degrees, though cooler air will linger near northern fringes.
Skies will be cloudier across the west and northwest, with the chance of isolated showers, while sunshine will dominate elsewhere, in light northerly breezes.
Saturday will bring another very warm or hot day, mostly sunny, with highest temperatures of 18 to 29 degrees in moderate northeast breezes.
Sunday will see the warmest conditions of the week across the western half of the country as an easterly breeze develops.
It will stay dry and mostly sunny after a tropical night in places, with highest temperatures of 22 to 29 degrees.
Into early next week, the warm or hot conditions will continue, with clear skies and plenty of sunshine.
An easterly breeze will keep temperatures fractionally cooler in the east, with the west staying warmest.
Nights will remain warm and humid throughout.
