Witness appeal after man dies following Mayo traffic collision

GARDAÍ are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic incident outside Ballinrobe on the N84 at Carrowkeel yesterday (Wednesday) evening.

Shortly after 9 p.m., gardaí and emergency services responded to reports of a collision involving a vehicle and a bicycle.

One of the individuals, a male in his mid 50s, sustained serious injuries, and was transported to University College Hospital Galway where he was later pronounced deceased.

The scene remains preserved for forensic examination by garda forensic collision investigators and the road is currently closed with local diversions in place.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them. Road users with camera footage (including dash-cam) from the N84 at Carrowkeel around the time of the collision are also asked to make this available to investigating gardaí.
