New high temperature warning issued for Mayo

A new Status Yellow High Temperature warning has been issued for Mayo as the current spell of hot weather is expected to last until Wednesday.

It will come into effect at 1 p.m. tomorrow and will end at 7 a.m. on Wednesday morning.

Met Éireann said that maximum temperatures of over 27C are likely, combined with overnight minimum temperatures of over 15C.

The forecaster also warns of water safety issues due to increased use of lakes, beaches and waterways, as well as uncomfortable sleeping conditions.

It also warned of potential heat stress, forest fires and drought conditions.

Mayo will also be under a Status Yellow High Temperature warning from 1 p.m. today (Sunday) until 7 a.m tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Uisce Éireann said that its teams are continuing to monitor supplies, manage the network, repair leaks and take targeted action where needed to protect water services for customers.

"While the vast majority of customers across the country are not seeing any impact to their supply, nighttime restrictions are in place on 25 water supplies, out of more than 700 nationwide, as a precaution," the organisation said in a statement.
