Ballyglass book spot in FAI Women's Amateur Shield quarterfinals
Ballyglass FC's senior women's team enjoyed a great win on Sunday as they came through a last 16 FAI Women's Amateur Shield encounter with Breska Rovers in Rathkeale, Co. Limerick, in sweltering conditions.
The Mayo side went ahead after three minutes from a stunning free-kick from Isabel Delaney.
Ballyglass held that lead until the 63rd minute when their hosts equalised from the penalty spot, and ultimately bringing the game to extra time.
Ballyglass were ahead again two minutes into extra time thanks to a well worked goal by Emma Halton, assisted by Katie Corcoran. However, Breska were level again five minutes later, leaving it all to play for in the second half of extra time.
It was at this point that Ballyglass started to dominate and they were rewarded in the 106th minute with a winner from Katie Corcoran, with the assist by Emma Halton.
It was no more than the Mayo side deserved and their reward is a tricky away trip to Wexford to face Ferns United in the quarterfinals.
