Mayo coffee shop to celebrate first birthday with family fun day
Green Bean Coffee is inviting the entire Claremorris community to join in a huge first birthday celebration on Saturday, July 18, with a family fun day packed full of entertainment, community spirit and activities for all ages. Taking place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Convent Road, opposite Claremorris Fire Station, the event is Green Bean Coffee's way of saying thank you to the community whose support has helped the local business thrive during its first year.
Visitors can look forward to an exciting programme of entertainment, including live music with DJ Andrew Tynan, a children's disco, face painting, games, competitions, giveaways and plenty of surprises throughout the day.
Dog lovers are also in for a treat, with Ciara from Oracle Dogs sharing practical tips on how to help your dog settle comfortably in a café environment – perfect for Green Bean Coffee's growing community of four-legged regulars and their owners.
The celebration is being held in partnership with the Claremorris Fire Station Open Day, giving families the opportunity to experience both events.
Visitors can explore the fire station, meet local firefighters, see the fire appliances up close, enjoy demonstrations and discover more about the work of the fire service, before crossing the road to continue the celebrations at Green Bean Coffee.
The event will also feature volunteers from the Irish Red Cross, who will be showcasing one of their ambulances, giving visitors the opportunity to meet the crew and learn more about the valuable work they do within the community.
One of the highlights of the day will be the launch of the first Young Community Artists Exhibition and Competition. Children aged 13 years and under have been invited to create artwork inspired by the theme ‘What I Love About Claremorris.’ Their creations will be proudly displayed in a public exhibition during the event, celebrating the creativity, imagination and community pride of Claremorris' youngest artists.
The competition will be judged by internationally acclaimed local artist Norah Brennan, with winners across three age categories receiving Smyths Toys vouchers.
The exhibition has been created to encourage children to express themselves creatively while taking time to reflect on the people, places and experiences that make Claremorris special. Organisers also hope it provides families with an opportunity to slow down, spend time together and enjoy creating something meaningful.
Since opening a year ago, Green Bean Coffee has become much more than somewhere to grab a coffee. The business has built a loyal community by listening to its customers and continually evolving its offering, introducing smoothies, milkshakes, SOS Cookies, fresh baked treats and seasonal specials while continuing to serve premium Blue Moon Coffee.
Green Bean Coffee owners Kenneth Murtagh and John McNicholas said they’ve been "blown away by the support” they’ve received over the past year.
"From day one we've wanted Green Bean Coffee to be about more than great coffee; it’s about creating a welcoming place where people can connect, families can spend time together and our community can be celebrated,” they said.
“We can't wait to welcome everyone for what promises to be a fantastic day."
Some of the event highlights as part of the birthday celebrations include, live music with DJ Andrew Tynan; children's disco; face painting; games, competitions and giveaways; Oracle Dogs café dog training session; Irish Red Cross information event; Claremorris Fire Station Open Day; first Young Community Artists Exhibition and Awards Presentation.
All are welcome for what promises to be a great day.
