Extension confirmed for north Mayo school bus route

A school bus route serving the Boleyglass and Derryfadda area has been reconfigured for the coming school year.

The new route will commence at Fahy's Cottage in Boleyglass and operate through Derryfada, before continuing on the normal route from Bofeenaun Church.

Minister of State Alan Dillon confirmed the development, having engaged with the Department, the Minister, and local parents on the issue for several years.

"I am really delighted to confirm that the route for a school bus in Boleyglass and Derryfadda has been reconfigured for the forthcoming school year," Dillon said.

Dillon said he will continue to work closely with all parties to ensure the new route is smoothly implemented.

“I am delighted to see this finally resolved after numerous engagements.

I want to thank Minister Michael Moynihan and everyone involved, include Bus Eireann for listening to the families and getting the new route in place.”
