Water supply outages in north Mayo village this morning
ALTERNATIVE water supplies have been made available to Uisce Éireann customers in Bonniconlon who have been impacted by a water outage this morning.
An overnight mechanical failure at the Cahra pumping station has led to supply outages for approximately 30 homes in the area.
Alternative water supplies, in the form of bowsers and bottled water, have been made available to affected customers this morning. These are available at two locations:
* Across the road from Bonniconlon Church
* Beside the Bonniconlon reservoir
Uisce Éireann teams are working to bring the pumping station back online, and it is estimated that supply will be restored to impacted customers by 3 p.m. today.
Uisce Éireann acknowledges that there have been intermittent water supply disruptions in the Bonniconlon area over recent weeks and would like to thank customers for their patience while we work to resolve this issue.
Colette Scahill of Uisce Éireann said every effort is being made to restore full supply as quickly as possible.
“Customers will begin to experience supply disruptions this morning as reservoir levels drop due to increased daytime supply. Our crews have identified the issue, and we expect water to be restored by this afternoon,” she said.
“We acknowledge that there have been ongoing supply issues in the Bonniconlon area over recent weeks. We appreciate the inconvenience that unplanned water outages can cause, and we wish to thank customers for their understanding.”
High demand for water due to the ongoing fine weather continues to place serve pressure on supplies, across Mayo and around the country. Uisce Éireann would like to renew its appeal to Mayo customers to limit their water use to essential purposes where possible, and to take some simple steps to reduce their usage.
Customers are encouraged to be alert to signs of leaks on their property, such as persistent damp patches on lawns or driveways.
