Mayo dairy farmer elected chairman of Aurivo Co-operative

The board of Aurivo Co-operative has announced the election of Cathal Garvey as chair and Lawrence McNamee as vice chair, with immediate effect.

Cathal Garvey is a dairy farmer from south Mayo and represents the South Mayo/North Galway Regional Advisory Committee.

He joined the Aurivo Board in 2013 and has served as vice chairman since 2020.

Lawrence McNamee is a dairy farmer from Convoy, Co. Donegal, and is a member of the Donegal Regional Advisory Committee. He joined the Aurivo Board in 2021.

Cathal Garvey succeeds Raymond Barlow as chair following Raymond's completion of the maximum six-year term permitted under the Co-operative's governance arrangements.

Raymond will continue to serve as a member of the board.

Commenting on his appointment, Cathal Garvey said: “It is a great honour and privilege to be appointed chair of Aurivo Co-operative, a co-op that has such a proud heritage playing a key role across our region and in the lives and livelihoods of our members, employees and communities.

"I look forward to working with Lawrence, my fellow board members, our management team and all those across the Co-operative to continue serving the best interests of our members and supporting the long-term development of Aurivo.

The board congratulated Cathal Garvey and Lawrence McNamee on their appointments and thanked Raymond Barlow for his service and contribution during his term as Chair.
