Lahardane MacHales crowned Mayo Division 4 champions

Lahardane MacHales are Mayo Division 4 football champions after a 2-16 to 1-13 win over Westport 'B' in this evening's AbbVie Senior Football League final.

Darragh Walsh's early goal set the league winners on their way, and further first-half scores from James Maughan, Adrian Leonard and Shane Finnerty had Lahardane 2-6 to 0-5 up at the break. Finnerty converted a penalty won by Walsh late in the half.

Darragh Hoban's goal kept Westport in touch after the restart, and the sides traded scores through a tight third quarter, Finnerty's two-pointers proving crucial as Killian Conway pulled Westport to within two points.

But Lahardane pulled clear again down the stretch, Maughan and a monster Finnerty two-point free putting daylight between the sides before the finish.

Finnerty finished with 1-11 for Cormac Reape's side, including four two-pointers and the penalty goal, with Adrian Leonard (0-3) and James Maughan (0-2) also among the scores for the north Mayo men.
