Scintillating away win for top Mayo club in the FAI Senior Cup
Castlebar Celtic have reached the third round of the Club Orange FAI Senior Cup with a 1-0 victory over Munster Senior League side Douglas Hall in at Moneygourney, Douglas, Co. Cork, today.
A first-half strike by Dylan Felle proved to be the difference between the sides as Celtic, back to almost full strength after a glut of injuries, produced a disciplined and determined performance to book their place in the next round.
The decisive breakthrough came after 20 minutes when the crafty Johnny Cocozza provided the pass for Felle to direct the ball sweetly past Douglas Hall goalkeeper Daniel Moynihan.
While there were under pressure at different points after the goal as the home side stepped up a gear in search of an equaliser, the Castlebar defence stood firm.
It was fantastic result for Steve Gavin's charges against quality opposition.
Congratulations to the players, management, and everyone who made the trip to support the team.
The draw for the next round takes place on Tuesday with the prospect of the Hoops being paired against a leading League of Ireland side.
