Serious traffic congestion in west Mayo town creating big local concerns

Road users from Westport and Castlebar direction are experiencing severe traffic congestion and delays of one hour and more in Newport today.

This is due to the volumes of traffic in the Mulranny/Achill direction since this morning.

Gardaí have been informed and locals have serious concerns about the accessibility of emergency vehicles - ambulance and fire brigade as this congestion is ongoing.
