Cloudy start for Mayo before sunny spells develop

Mayo will see a cloudy start on Monday morning, with a few spots of drizzle possible.

Sunny spells will develop through the afternoon and evening, best in the south and east of the county.

Highest temperatures of 16 to 21 degrees are expected, coolest in northern and western areas.

Winds will be light to moderate from the north.

MONDAY TONIGHT

Monday night will be dry for most, with clear spells.

Some areas in the north and northwest will stay cloudy with a little drizzle possible.

Lowest temperatures of 10 to 14 degrees are forecast, in mostly light northerly breezes.

WEEK OUTLOOK

High pressure will remain dominant into the week ahead, bringing dry and warm conditions for most, though with more cloud than of late, especially in the northwest, where it will stay cooler.

Cloud will spread from the northwest through Tuesday morning with a little drizzle, though it will stay mostly sunny in the south and southeast.

Better sunny spells will develop through the afternoon and evening. Highest temperatures of 16 to 19 degrees are expected in the north and northwest, with 20 to 25 degrees further south and east.

Wednesday will bring a similar pattern, with cloud persisting longest in the northwest and sunny spells developing elsewhere.

Highest temperatures will range from 17 to 19 degrees in the northwest up to 24 or 25 degrees in the southeast.

Thursday will again start largely cloudy with a little drizzle possible, before better sunny spells develop through the afternoon and evening. Highest temperatures of 18 to 24 degrees are expected, warmest in the southeast.

A mix of cloud and sunny spells is expected on Friday, with light rain or drizzle mainly over the northwestern half of the country.
