Death of talented Mayo chef Peter Cartwright
The death has occurred of Peter Cartwright, St. Martin’s Terrace, Castlebar, and formerly of Finglas, Co. Dublin.
He died peacefully in the wonderful care of the staff in Mayo Hospice, Castlebar, surrounded by his loving family.
The deceased was a talented chef who ran his own catering business for many years. He also worked for some time in a number of local hotels.
Predeceased by his parents Rita and Jack and sister Pat (Bradley), he is deeply regretted by his heartbroken wife Nuala, daughter Jacqueline, son-in-law Jonathan, adored grandchildren Holly and Charlie, brothers Jim (Limerick), Sean (Meath), Paul (Kildare), sisters Rita (Harte, Australia), Phyllis (Smyth, Australia), brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends.
Deepest sympathy is extended to the bereaved family.
Warm tributes have been paid to him on social media.
One stated: "We'll miss his good nature, camaraderie and the wonderful songs he sang."
Another said: "I knew Peter when he worked in Breaffy House and spent many enjoyable hours in his company. He was always cheerful and great company."

Peter will repose in Coady’s Funeral home, Castlebar, this evening (Monday) from 5.30 until 7 p.m.
Funeral cortége will arrive at the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar on Tuesday at 10.45 a.m. for Requiem Mass at 11.30 a.m. followed by burial afterwards in Castlebar New Cemetery.
