Mayo Women's Cup and Shield finalists confirmed

Manulla and Killala will go head to head in this year's Eco-Powered Cabinets Mayo Women's Cup final on August 30.

And the Mayo Women's Shield final on the same date will feature Conn Rangers and Kiltimagh Knock United.

Friday evening's semi-finals saw Manulla ease past Castlebar Town 0-5, with a tighter affair down in Killala where they saw off Castlebar Celtic's challenge 3-2.

It took until the second half for Kiltimagh Knock United to really impose themselves on Ballina Town, winning 1-9, while Conn Rangers were 2-1 winners over Snugboro in a good joust.

An understrength Castlebar Town faced a tough task against Manulla, finding themselves trailing by four goals at half-time, including a penalty. Katie Heaney completed her hat-trick in the second half as Manulla comfortably booked their place in the final.

The Division One clash of Killala and Castlebar Celtic had a lightening opening, with the ever-reliable Alva Munnelly on target for the home side on five minutes and Celtic equalising a minute later. Killala held a slender 2-1 lead at half-time against their visitors, who played with 10 players.

Munnelly stretched the lead in the 66th minute, and while Ava Murray kept Celtic's hopes alive with a goal on 75, the north Mayo side's strength and resilience saw them through.

A closely contested first half in the shield semi-final featuring Ballina Town and Kiltimagh Knock United saw KK leading 1-0 at the break. Ballina Town defended well and posed a threat up front, while their visitors were off target with a number of chances, and both 'keepers pulling off good saves too.

Matters turned around in the second half, however, with Mary Ann Ward having a hat-trick, and Ria Foy popping up with her first senior goal as KK ran out 1-9 winners. Town scored a stunning late consolation goal via Emma Tolan.

Meanwhile, just up the road, Conn Rangers worked hard in their win over Snugboro, creating several chances after falling behind on 20 minutes.

Emma Walsh levelled for the home side in the 64th minute, and as time ticked down they took the lead in the 83rd minute, seeing out a frantic final few minutes as Snugboro threw everything at them to try and force extra time.
