Opportunity to underground cables on east Mayo road

THERE is an opportunity to put overhead cables underground on Circular Road/Station Road in Swinford.

Representations on the undergrounding have been made to Councillor Neil Cruise as works commence on the 110kV EirGrid project taking place along the route.

It's a good opportunity to have all overground cables in the area put underground, Councillor Cruise told the monthly meeting of Mayo County Council.

He asked that the local authority would liaise with the project team and contractor.
