Official opening plans for Mayo's first columbarium

THE official opening of the new columbarium in Crossmolina Cemetery will take place towards the end of September.

The opening date and also costs that will be involved for people using the wall for cremated remains have been queried by local Councillor Michael Loftus.

It is the first columbarium in County Mayo.

A policy relating to columbariums is to come before a strategic policy committee meeting and then full meeting of Mayo County Council in mid September, and it's hoped to hold an official opening in the second half of the month, Councillor Loftus was told.
