Top Mayo club drawn away to Dundalk in FAI Senior Cup

Castlebar Celtic have been drawn away to League of Ireland Premier League side Dundalk in the third round of the Club Orange FAI Senior Cup.

The Co. Louth club are currently placed fourth in the Premier Division with 35 points from 24 matches.

Although it is a prestigious fixture for the Mayo Super League leaders, supporters of the county town club had been hoping for a home clash at Celtic Park.

The match will be played at Oriel Park on the week ending August 16.

As a former League of Ireland player with Bohemians and Longford Town, Celtic manager Steve Gavin will relish the prospect of facing such illustrious opposition.

The Hoops are only one of two non-league sides left in the competition, the others being College Corinthians, Cork, who have been drawn at home to Drogheda United.

Celtic are certain to bring a large continent of supporters with them to the Co. Louth encounter.

Connaught's two League of Ireland clubs have both been drawn at home in the third round.

Sligo Rovers face Kerry at the Showground while Galway United entertain Bray Wanderers.

Cup favourites and holders Shamrock Rovers are away to St. Patrick's Athletic in the most attractive tie of the round.
