Almost four hundred thousand in funding for small scale local festivals and summer schools

The Government have announced a funding allocation of €371,792.25 to support small-scale local festivals and summer schools across Ireland in 2026.

This new scheme is designed to assist cultural events that may not be eligible for funding, like those available for larger events supported by bodies like Fáilte Ireland or the Arts Council.

The closing date was in April, with funding being allocated to successful applicants with a maximum grant of €5,000 available.

Minister for Culture, Communications and Sport, Patrick O’Donovan said: “Culture and the arts play a vital role in enriching our society, strengthening communities and preserving Ireland's unique heritage. Through the support of my Department, festivals and summer schools across the country continue to provide opportunities for people to connect, learn and celebrate our shared traditions.

“These events showcase the richness of Ireland’s cultural life and reflect the dedication and creativity of the organisers, volunteers, artists and communities who make them possible. I extend my sincere thanks to all involved and encourage everyone to take the opportunity to enjoy the excellent programme of cultural events taking place throughout 2026.”

Successful applicants include: Féile Cheil Larry Reynolds Ballinasloe, County Galway, Queer Shed - Louth/Meath, and the Circus 250 Productions CLG in Mayo.
