Fond tributes to much-loved Mayo hotelier on his passing
The death of Paul Hanley, Brookhill, Claremorris, is deeply mourned in the community.
Proprietor of the Western Hotel in the town, he died peacefully surrounded by his loving family.
Paul will be sadly missed and remembered by his heartbroken family: his devoted wife Anne and his six daughters Karen, Jayne, Katie, Michelle, Nicole and Jessica, sons-in-law Lorcán, Julian, David, Brian, Mark and Paul, grandchildren Tom, Daithí, Fíonn, Tadhg, Cuán, Aodán, Chloe, Frankie and Billy, who he loved very dearly.
He is also mourned by his beloved sister Bernie, brothers Martin, Micéal and Niall, his parents-in-law Nancy and Gerry McGreal, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and a wide circle of friends.
Deepest sympathy is extended to the bereaved family on their loss.
Paul was predeceased by his parents, Micéal and Peggy Hanley.
Fond tributes are being paid to him on social media.
The board of management at St. Colman's College stated: "He was a wonderful supporter of ours in St. Colman's College and was always willing to help us down through the years in so many ways.
"He was very proud of his alma mater and always held the college close to his heart.
"We will certainly miss him and his warm, welcoming smile in the Western Hotel.
"God Bless you Paul, and thanks for everything. May your gentle soul rest in peace."
A staff member of the Western Hotel wrote: "Apart from giving me employment in the Western Hotel for years, Paul was a great family friend. I will be forever grateful for his kindness shown to us.
"His loss is immeasurable."
"He had such a generous heart and a wonderful personality. He will be sadly missed by anyone who knew him," a further tribute stated.
Paul will repose in Gilligan’s Funeral Home, Market Square, Claremorris, on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.
The funeral cortége will arrive for 1 p.m. Requiem Mass in St. Colman’s Church on Saturday with burial afterwards in St Colman’s Cemetery.
