Talks on urban bus service for Mayo county town

ENGAGEMENT has opened with Local Link about a possible bus service in Castlebar town.

Councillor Cyril Burke has been pushing the need for a bus run to help move some of the heavy traffic from the town. He raised the issue again at this month's Castlebar Municipal District meeting.

On a recent visit to Tullamore he noticed bus stops at the top of every estate where people could hop on and get dropped into town.

Municipal district head Ann Moore said the council has engaged with Local Link about a bus service.

They expect to be meeting with national representatives in the coming weeks to try and progress the proposal.
