Accidents and hold-ups at Mayo junction need to be addressed

TRAFFIC accidents and hold-ups at the Straide road junction in Ballyvary have again been brought to the attention of council management.

There have been two minor accidents at the location in the last week, Councillor Ger Deere told a Castlebar Municipal District meeting.

He was held up for 20 minutes recently at the junction trying to get onto the N5.

And people are frustrated are being caught up for so long and taking chances to get out on the road, resulting in minor accidents, he said.

There is plenty of room for a roundabout at the location, Councillor Deere suggested.
