Lack of catering on Mayo train services criticised

IARNROD Éireann has been criticised over the lack of catering services on trains on the Mayo line.

They drew the ire of Councillor Michael Kilcoyne especially in light of the company recently writing off €50 million due to a failed IT project.

Yet, the company was telling people in Mayo that they cannot supply tea or a sandwich on the Westport train, noted the Independent councillor at a municipal district meeting.

Service users on the Cork line do get to enjoy a catering service, he highlighted, with Councillor Al McDonnell commenting: “To Hell or to Connaught.”

Councillor Kilcoyne said given that the company had squandered €50 million but couldn't provide a cup of tea raises serious questions.
