New Mayo Peace Commissioner appointed

A NEW Peace Commissioner has been appointed in north Mayo.

Crossmolina-based Councillor Michael Loftus received his Warrant of Appointment as a Peace Commissioner from Catherine Ardagh, Minister of State with responsibility for International Law, Law Reform and Youth Justice, on Friday.

In an announcement on his social media, Councillor Loftus said he looked forward to serving the local community in his new role.

A Peace Commissioner is an honorary, unpaid community person appointed by the Department of Justice to take statutory declarations, witness signatures, and sign specific legal certificates or warrants.
