Writer with Mayo roots launches website celebrating Irish success stories
A NEW website dedicated to celebrating the remarkable achievements of Irish people throughout history and today is being officially launched today (Tuesday).
Irish Success (irishsuccess.com) has been created by Irish writer and blogger Michael Sloyan, who has family roots in Mayo, with one simple mission: to celebrate the talent, determination, creativity and achievements of Irish people and those of Irish heritage across the globe.
At a time when much of the daily news focuses on negative headlines, Michael says Irish Success aims to provide an uplifting alternative by sharing inspiring stories of Irish excellence in sport, business, science, literature, music, film, innovation, philanthropy and many other fields, both historical and contemporary.
The website will feature a weekly blog highlighting remarkable Irish success stories, alongside the daily Irish Success features celebrating famous and lesser-known Irish men and women whose achievements have made a lasting impact. Visitors will also discover reviews of books by Irish authors, encouraging readers to explore Ireland's rich literary heritage.
Michael Sloyan comes from an Irish family whose roots are mainly in County Mayo. He has been researching and compiling Irish success stories for over 20 years and, now retired and living on the Valencian coast of Spain, he collates and publishes Irish success stories every day.
What began as a simple hobby page on Facebook (Irish Success Stories) a year ago has grown exponentially month on month and now enjoys over 300,000 views each month.
One of the site's most distinctive features will be a growing Irish Links Directory, carefully curated to become a valuable resource for Irish people around the world. The directory will connect visitors with Irish news outlets, cultural organisations, community groups, societies, chambers of commerce and other Irish-focused organisations worldwide, helping strengthen connections across the global Irish community.
Speaking ahead of the launch, Michael said: "Ireland has produced an extraordinary number of people whose achievements have inspired the world. My hope is that Irish Success will surprise, inform and inspire readers while giving Irish people everywhere another reason to feel proud of their heritage.
“I also hope the website becomes a useful meeting place where people can discover Irish organisations, community groups and resources across the world."
Irish organisations, clubs, societies, community groups and chambers of commerce are invited to visit the website and explore opportunities for reciprocal links through the growing Irish Links Directory.
The website officially launches today, and everyone with an interest in Ireland, Irish culture and Irish achievement is invited to visit and become part of the growing Irish Success community.
