Twenty-four new homes in pipeline for east Mayo town

TWENTY-FOUR new homes are in the pipeline for Kilkelly.

The development, comprising of a mix of two-, three- and four-bedroom houses, is proposed for construction at River View Road.

An application for planning permission has been submitted by developers Kenaidan Developments Ltd.

An architectural design statement sets out that the overall objective of the development is to deliver a high-quality, sustainable and attractive residential neighbourhood that responds positively to the character of Kilkelly while providing much-needed housing within walking distance of the town centre and local services.

The site is located at River View, adjoining established residential development and within convenient walking distance of the town centre.

The submission points out its strategic location within an area experiencing sustained economic activity and employment growth, including Ireland West Airport.

It was positioned to support the future growth aspirations associated with the Ireland West Airport Knock Strategic Development Zone (SDZ) and the wider economic corridor surrounding the airport.

The report stated: “The proposed development should be viewed not only as a residential scheme but also as supporting infrastructure for the continued economic development of east Mayo and the future expansion of the Ireland West Airport Knock SDZ. The development will assist in creating a sustainable live-work relationship between housing and employment, reducing commuting distances, supporting local services and strengthening the long-term viability of the region.”
