Matron Kay Duffy

Diaspora award dedicated to former Mayo matron

THE Mayo Irish Diaspora Society is to honour Irish nurses and midwives with an award dedicated to the former matron of Mayo County Hospital, Kay Duffy.

The late Kay served as matron of the hospital for many years, leading with compassion and understanding, and she was a special person in both the life of the hospital and the Castlebar community.

The award in her name will honour all nurses and midwives, past and present.

It is one of eight awards that will be presented by the Mayo Irish Diaspora Society at its annual awards lunch, taking place on Saturday, September 12, in the Ellison Hotel, Castlebar.

Kylemore Abbey and the Benedictine Sisters are also among the recipients.

More details will be available nearer the date. In the meantime, for further information you can contact Kevin Bourke at (087) 2439748.
