Fifty jobs created as Corrib Oil opens new Mayo outlet

CORRIB Oil has officially opened its flagship Ballina service station and convenience store, marking one of the most significant investments in the company's near 40-year history and reaffirming its commitment to Mayo, the county where the business was founded in 1987.

The development represents the future of the company's retail offering, combining convenience, quality food, sustainable infrastructure and modern fuel solutions in a single destination designed around evolving customer needs.

Representing Corrib Oil's 43rd retail location, the Ballina development has created 50 new jobs across retail, food service and management roles, while introducing a comprehensive customer offering that brings together convenience retail, fresh food, and a comprehensive range of energy and mobility solutions.

The forecourt, operating under the Circle K brand, has been designed to meet the needs of both private motorists and commercial operators.

Alongside petrol and diesel, customers have access to AdBlue and electric vehicle charging. AdBlue, the emissions-reducing fluid used by many modern diesel vehicles, is available on both the main forecourt and at a truck stop pump, while a dedicated truck fill facility further enhances the site's offering for commercial customers.

The electric charging offering also includes two double fast charge EV charging points, delivered in partnership with ePower, supporting the continued growth of electric vehicle use across the region.

At the heart of the new development is a spacious Spar convenience store, reflecting Corrib Oil's commitment to providing customers with greater choice, quality and convenience. Alongside a full Corrib Deli offering freshly prepared, high-quality food throughout the day, the development features a carefully curated mix of leading food and beverage brands, including Insomnia Coffee, Smooch ice-cream and Blue Thunder.

Together, they create a modern retail destination designed to meet a broad range of customer needs, including groceries, coffee, off-licence, and a seating area for food on the go customers. Ample parking and toilet facilities are also available.

Designed with sustainability at its core, the site features an extensive solar panel installation, reflecting Corrib Oil's commitment to improving energy efficiency and supporting more sustainable operations across its retail network.

Gillian Morris, head of retail, Corrib Oil, said: “Every aspect of this development has been designed around the customer experience. From the spacious Spar convenience store and our full Corrib Deli offering to partners including Insomnia Coffee and Blue Thunder, we wanted to create a destination that gives customers real choice, quality and convenience.

“We're particularly excited to introduce our full Corrib Deli to Ballina, offering freshly prepared, high-quality food made to the standards our customers have come to expect. We're equally proud of the investment in sustainable infrastructure, including solar energy, EV charging, ensuring we're meeting customers' needs today while preparing for tomorrow.

“We look forward to welcoming customers through our doors.”

Jamie Tierney, store manager, Corrib Oil, Ballina, said: “Opening this new store is a fantastic milestone for our team and we are incredibly proud to welcome customers through our doors. We've recruited a fantastic team from the local area who are committed to delivering a friendly, welcoming experience every day.

“Whether customers are visiting for groceries, fresh food, coffee, fuel or simply calling in while travelling, we want every visit to be a positive one. We are excited to become part of the Ballina community and look forward to serving our customers for many years to come.”

The Ballina opening forms part of Corrib Oil's ongoing expansion strategy and follows a series of significant investments across the business.
