Death of 'wonderful Mayo lady' Julia O'Malley in her 100th year
The death has occurred of Julia O’Malley (née Patten), Bollinglanna, Currane, Achill.
In her 100th year, she died peacefully at home yesterday surrounded by her loving family.
Warm tributes are being paid to her on social media.
One stated: "A fountain of knowledge of everything that made Bollinglanna a wonderful place to grow up in."
Another said: "Such a wonderful lady, Julia was such a kind, generous and caring person with an incredible memory and sharp wit."
Julia will be sadly missed by her heartbroken family: sons and daughters, Marty Joe, Maureen, Brian, Patty, Kathleen, JP and Monica, sons in law, Jimmy Lott (Wicklow), Conal O’Boyle (Carlow) and Seamus McCormack(Claremorris), and her adored grandchildren who meant the world to her, Jannah, Jason, Ferdia, Saoirse, Diarmuid, Oisin and Conor and great grandchildren, Sonny and Jesse in Australia, her loving sister Margaret (London, in her 98th year) her many relatives, friends and neighbours.
Deepest sympathy is extended to the bereaved family on their loss.
She was predeceased by her husband John, brothers Tommy and Conor, and sisters Bridgie, Catherine (Kelly), Annie (Madden) and Sarah (Lavelle).
Julia’s remains will repose at Glor na dTonn Community Centre, Currane, from 3.30 to 5.30 p.m. on Wednesday before proceeding to the Our Lady Queen of the Universe Church, in Currane at 6 p.m.
She will be laid to rest following 12.30 p.m. Mass on Thursday in Polranny Cemetery.
