Boost for Mayo town centre as healthstore chain confirms plans
Horan's Healthstore, which has 21 outlets nationwide employing a staff of 90, is set to open a new shop at Main Street, Castlebar.
The 100% Irish owned business is currently seeking staff ahead of its expected Mayo launch in September at a premises formerly occupied by the Jack and Jill Charity Shop.
The property has been leased by Brian Moran Auctioneers, Ellison Street, Castlebar, to Horan's Healthstore.
The firm was founded in 1988 by Dan Horan as a fruit and vegetable shop with a small healthy food section located at the back of the store.
The company's head office is located in Co. Kerry where several of its initial retail shops and fruit/veg stores were founded.
Over the decades, it grew steadily from its roots in the Munster region to operating 21 stores across Ireland, including locations in Cork, Limerick, Tipperary, Dublin, Sligo, and Waterford, alongside an established online store.
They specialise in natural health food supplements, organic foods, and eco-friendly skincare items sourced internationally and locally.
The news is a boost for Castlebar's town centre which has been in decline for a number of years.
