Mayo councillor welcomes go-ahead on Knockmore playground
Independent councillor Joe Faughnan has welcomed the decision by the Ballina Municipal District to give the go-ahead for the construction of a playground in Knockmore village.
The project has been granted Part 8 planning permission and will now proceed to eTender, with construction hoped to be completed this side of Christmas.
"This is a project that has been a long time in the pipeline and I am delighted that it has finally been given Part 8 planning permission and will now go to eTender and it is hoped that construction will be completed this side of Christmas," Cllr. Faughnan said.
"I want to pay a special tribute to Tony McDonnell and the McDonnell family for donating the site for the playground. This is a hugely generous gesture on their part that will benefit the local community for this and future generations."
"Special thanks also to my predecessor, Seamus Weir, whose idea it was to build a playground for the children of Knockmore. Seamus has helped drive this project from the very beginning and I'm delighted to see his hard work come to fruition. I also want to recognise the work put in by Brendan Boland on this project."
"I wish to thank my fellow councillors for supporting this project and also Head of the Ballina Municipal District, Anna Connor, and her predecessor, Declan Turnbull, for their support and backing for what is a critical piece of infrastructure for the community of Knockmore."
