Mayo LGFA to donate proceeds of ticket sales to M9 victims
Mayo LGFA has urged clubs across the county to get behind a fundraising drive this weekend, with proceeds from online tickets for the AbbVie Mayo LGFA Championship going to the family of Claremorris player Niamh Kinsella.
19 championship games take place across the county over Saturday and Sunday.
Mayo LGFA says 100 per cent of tickets bought online will go towards the GoFundMe supporting the recovery of Kinsella, her sisters Alma and Ella, and her young nephew Yemi.
"This weekend, your club needs you," Mayo LGFA said in a statement.
Kinsella, who plays for Claremorris LGFA, and her family were seriously injured in a collision on the M9 in Co Kildare at the weekend, when a car travelling the wrong way down the motorway struck the vehicle they were travelling in.
The family, from Carlow, were on their way to Dublin Airport for a wedding.
A GoFundMe page set up in the aftermath has raised hundreds of thousands of euro from thousands of donations.
Mayo LGFA says supporters do not need to attend a game in person for their contribution to count.
Anyone buying a ticket online, whether or not they make it to a fixture, will have their money go directly to the family.
Full fixture details for the weekend's 19 championship games are available from Mayo LGFA and you can purchase your tickets here.
