Mayo traffic notice for Gravel Grind West event

On Sunday next, August 23, Gravel Grind West will take to the by roads, borrieens, tracks and trails starting at the Cornmarket Ballinrobe.

The route comes onto the N84 at the Keel bridge and again at Partry before heading to Srah, Kilawallia and Ballintubber stores where there is a foodstop.

Cyclists cross the busy junction at Ballintubber stores N84 heading for Ballintubber Abbey going on a meander to Clogher walking trails and Moorehall transversing back to Ballinrobe on back road and borieens finishing at the Cornmarket Balinrobe.

Cyclist start in one group, at 9 a.m. from the Cornmarket. But will break up into small groups over the day.

The aim of the event is to promote safe, low-traffic cycling routes while showcasing the history, geography and diverse landscapes of this part of Mayo.

Gravel Grind West is about exploring Mayo by bike, discovering its hidden gems, quiet roads, boreens and trails.

Motorists are advised to drive with caution in the areas below.
